"Skunk" Factory Raided in Barons Court

More than 600 high-strength cannabis plants seized

Police have raided a drugs factory in Kinnoul Street in Barons Court and seized more than 600 high-strength cannabis plants.

The haul included 'skunk' plants, worth up to 500,000 on the streets, hi-tec lighting, watering and refrigeration equipment used to grow plants hydroponically.

Shocked neighbours watched as police carried the drugs and equipment out of the house in plastic bags and into two high-top vans.

Acting on a tip-off, police officers from Hammersmith and Fulham's Safer Neighbourhood Teams led the late night raid on September 18.

Officers believes the seizure will be a blow to local drug dealers, as the equipment used to speed up the plants' growth can be expensive and hard to find.

According to Detective Constable Gareth Rees, the drugs factory was well organised and equipped.

"It was a substantial seizure and will disrupt that part of the criminal fraternity who have been growing the plants in Fulham," he said.

" Plants were taken in various stages of growth so at this stage it is hard to say exactly how much their street value would have been. This was a great result for the SNT."

No arrests were made and detectives are working to establish who owns the house.
