Here's what's on in SW6 in the run-up to Christmas:
Maggie's Cancer Caring Centre is
holding a Christmas Fair on Saturday, December 12 from noon till 6pm at Maggie’s, by Charing Cross Hospital.
Visitors, young and old, can meet Santa at Maggie’s Grotto, choose a gift in one of the stalls, enjoy mulled wine and mince pies and keep the kids entertained with face painting and crafts and join in the lucky dip,
Christmas raffle and tombola.
Entry is £3 (£1 for children under 12) and all money raised will go towards Maggie’s London.
The London Oratory School Choral Society and Sinfonia will perform a
a concert of seasonal carols and part one of Handel's Messiah on
Saturday December 12 at 8pm at the Servite Priory Church, in Fulham Road.
Tickets on the door cost £8 (£5 concessions: students and OAPs).
Join Fulham Brass Band at All Saints Church on December 12 for the Nearly Christmas Concert, an evening of festive music plus highlights from the band's highly successful concerts and contests throughout 2009.
Tickets are just £7 (£5 conc.), and up to two children under 12 per paying adult can come for free. Door will be open at 7pm at All Saints Church on Putney Bridge Approach.
The West London based Addison Singers bring an evening of jazz to London Oratory School's John McIntosh Arts Theatre on December 12.
The choir will perform favourites including the classic soul hit Son of a Preacher Man, You Raise Me Up and Balm in Gilead.
The ensemble's songs will include Otis Redding's Sittin' On The Dock of the Bay, Gershwin's I Got Rhythm, N'Kosi Sikilel I Africa (Prayer to Africa) and Steal Away. The ensemble and choir will also get together to perform Chocholoza (African welcoming song).
Tickets for the Jazz Concert cost £9 in advance, with £7 concessions or £2 to under 16s whose tickets are booked alongside adults. These can be bought online from We Got Tickets.
Tickets can also be bought on the door for £10, £8 for concessions or £2 for under 16s.
Westminster Cathedral Choir School will give a recital of classic Christmas carols in the Ground Floor Atrium of Chelsea and Westminster Hospital on Thursday, December 17 at 1pm.
The pantomime at Fulham Palace on Sunday December 13, is
The Christmas Race.
Join Pippin and Dotty as they travel the globe trying to win the race and making new friends along the way. They also encounter Disgusting Dora – the baddie – who will do anything to foil their plan and win the race herself!
Showing at 1pm and 3pm, this is a fun-filled 60 minute interactive performance with comedy and songs that the children can sing along to. All are welcome, and best suited to children aged two to eight.
Tickets £8 adults, £5 children. Early booking advised.
Also on December 13,
there is a Christmas Carol Concert promising a lovely evening of singing with The Tabard Singers in Fulham Palace's beautiful Victorian chapel. A glass of mulled wine awaits you on arrival from 5.30p, with the concert beginning at 6pm. Refreshments also served afterwards. Tickets cost £15 per person.
On Sunday December 20, Fulham Palace will be visited by Father Christmas at 2.30pm, giving children the chance to meet him and tell him what they are wishing for. Tickets cost £2 per child and there is a Christmas gift for everyone.
