Man at Centre of "Body in Carpet" Murder Dies

Roy Heath, the man at the centre of the murder enquiry sparked by the discovery of a body in a Fulham garden, has died.

Heath, who was 52, lived at the house in Alderville Road in Parsons Green where a police excavation on March 10 discovered a body, wrapped in carpet and buried under the patio.

The human remains, which are reportedly male but are still unidentified, are thought to to be 15 to 20 years old.

A post mortem on the remains proved inconclusive and police are now waiting for the results of further tests.

At the time of the discovery, Heath was suffering from cancer and believed to have only a short time left to live. He was the first person to be arrested and bailed after speaking to police, and it is thought he may have decided to make a "deathbed" confession.

It has since been revealed that Heath was a friend of notorious gangster Reggie Kray, and worked for him and his brother Ronnie after meeting Kray in prison.

Police have since arrested three more men, aged  61, 52 and 47, all of whom were bailed to return in April.

It has now been announced that Heath died on Sunday.

The Homicide and Serious Crime Command at Belgravia are still asking anyone who may have information to come forwards. DI Tim Dobson says: " Whilst enquiries are ongoing to establish the identity of this person we are keen to speak to anyone who may have lived in this road around that time.
