Gollum Comes to Fulham Palace!

Actor Andy Serkis is guest of honour at Hobbit Day Party

Andy Serkis, who plays creepy cave-dweller Gollum in Lord of the Rings and the upcoming Hobbit films, was guest of honour at Fulham Palace on Saturday, September 22, at a party held to celebrate the 75th anniversary of the publication of JRR Tolkien's classic children's story The Hobbit.

The grounds of the palace were transformed into the magical land of The Shire for the day, with a hobbit style Second Breakfast laid on for young partygoers.

To the crowd's delight, actor and director Andy took to the stage to provide a special reading from the Hobbit in the voice of Gollum.

You can see him in action here.

And if you need reminding of what his alter ego looks like, here is a new portrait from An Unexpected Journey, the first Hobbit film, which will open with a Royal Film Performance in December.
