Running until 15 May, The Subversive Stitcher Tea Towel Series is a display of textile art at the Riverside Studios in Hammersmith.

Holly Searle's work originates from a series of ‘Subverted Vintage Tea Towels’ she created during lockdown, responding to her own life experiences. This includes dealing with breast cancer, along with coping with larger public events during the pandemic.

She is from a long line of women in her family who used needles, thread, yarns and textiles to create art.

Holly's subversion of the humble kitchen tea towel aims to make for an original, challenging and thought-provoking exhibition.

She is also running subverted stitching workshops at Riverside Studios on how to create tea towel art on 13 and 28 April.

These workshops provide those attending with a section of tea towels to choose from, pre cut felt lettering, and the use of needles, pins and thread, as well as a brief introduction on the history of the tea towel.

The exhibition is free to view at Riverside Studios and is also wheelchair accessible.
