It's great to be Green!

Hammersmith residents invited to free party in Furnivall Gardens

Hammersmith tree huggers are inviting residents to a free party on Sunday. Greenfest 2009 will offer both a fun afternoon by the river, and a chance to learn about the environment, cycling and the local community.

Stalls will have activities for children, such as potting baby plants, or trying their hand at painting.

Gaze at a fish tank full of fish collected by the Environment Agency survey ship. Or check out archeological finds by Thames Discovery, an organisation dedicated to promoting the history of the River Thames.

A Latymer Prep hen will be sitting on her eggs, which may even hatch out with all the excitement!

If shopping appeals, there will be stalls selling herbs, fairtrade goods and sustainable outdoor furniture as well as a few delicious food stalls.

Visitors are encouraged to come by bike. Those who are a bit rusty in the saddle can try out child trailers and child seats courtesy Go Pedal and DutchBaby.

Towards the end of Greenfest, at 4.45pm the Ramblers are organising four mile walk along the Thames ending with food and drink in a pub in Barnes.

The music line up includes Havana Good Time, Sean Taylor, Rocket Number 9, Taxi Pata Pata.

Bring a picnic, bring your friends, and make it a day to remember.
