Italian-Language Drama Nadia Premieres at Barons Court Theatre

A psychological monologue inspired by true events

The play blends lyrical monologue with raw realism

October 13, 2025

Barons Court Theatre will host the UK premiere of Nadia, a psychological monologue inspired by true events, from 4 to 7 November 2025. Written by acclaimed Italian playwright Marco Di Stefano, directed by Costanza Filaroni, and performed by Chiara Valli, the production offers a stark and poetic exploration of trauma, identity, and survival.

Performed entirely in Italian without subtitles, Nadia invites audiences into the fractured mind of a woman recounting the events that led her from victimhood to violence. Set within the confines of a prison cell, the play blends lyrical monologue with raw realism, challenging viewers to consider the boundaries between justice, revenge, and empathy. An English-language script is available upon request for those wishing to follow the performance more closely.

Di Stefano, whose work has been staged across Europe, Asia, and the US, is known for his collaborations with institutions such as the Heiner Müller Gesellschaft in Berlin and the Croatian National Theatre in Rijeka. His previous works include Io sono figlio, presented at the Beijing Theatre Olympics, and La Città che Sale, winner of the Mario Fratti Award in New York.

Director Costanza Filaroni brings a background in musical theatre and opera to the production, having worked on pieces ranging from Macbeth to Sweeney Todd. Performer Chiara Valli, a graduate of the Scuola del Teatro Musicale in Novara, has appeared in productions including Rent and Measure for Measure, and brings a nuanced intensity to the solo role.

Performances begin nightly at 9:30 PM at Barons Court Theatre, located at 28A Comeragh Road, W14 9HR (beneath The Curtains Up pub).

Tickets are available via the Voila! Europe Festival website.
