AAH crosses borough boundaries to include over 50 artists
Artists at Home, affectionately known as AAH, announces its 32nd year with its largest membership yet (over 50 artists) and an incentive scheme to encourage visitors to go to more studios over the open week-end (16-18 June) The lucky winner will be drawn from those who visit at least ten studios; they will receive the Fletchers Art Buyers’ Prize - a token for £150 worth of art or crafts from the artist(s) of their choice.
Crossing borough boundaries, AAH takes in part of Hammersmith, Chiswick and Bedford Park (Ealing). For one weekend in June (16-18), over 50 artists open their doors to the public, offering a diverse range of disciplines – including painting, sculpture, photography, textiles, printmaking, ceramics. There is the opportunity to purchase at studio prices and, just as important, to talk to the artists about their work.
While the artists themselves work hard to get things ready for the annual event, visitors too are keenly anticipating it. One regular visitor comments:
“We make it a special weekend, with no other bookings allowed (other than sometimes a babysitter) in order to visit new and known artists. We plan our itinerary with our three young children in mind. We have found it a wonderful way to introduce art to them. It has been a pleasure to go back with them to see familiar artists over the years”.
Thanks to support of the principal sponsors, Fletcher Estates, and other key local business including Snappy Snaps and Turnham Arts and Crafts, AAH is able to produce an illustrated studio guide, giving an example of every artist’s work and a map. This will be available at the AAH stand at Green Days on 10 and 11 June, or from libraries and shops in the area.
