Food List rates Chiswick's finest alongside the 'incredible' River Cafe with its 'silly' prices
La Trompette ranks among the top restaurants in the country according to thousands of diners who helped compile The Food List.
Published in this weekend's Sunday Times and produced in association with Harden's Restaurant Guide, the Michelin starred restaurant came 42 in the guide to Britain's Top 100 restaurants.
Not so far behind at number 60 came Hammersmith's River Café with a description reading: "This ‘incredible’ Hammersmith modern Italian offers simple but phenomenal dishes that are among the best in London as ever though evens fans say its prices are just ‘silly’'
The Anglesea Arms came an admirable fourth in the country's Top Ten Gastro Pubs although, unlike some of its contemporaries, it failed to make the main list.
Devon's Gidleigh Park was crowned the best eatery in Britain with Heston Blumenthal’s famous Fat Duck restaurant coming a close second. Covering the whole of the UK, the guide identifies top restaurants across the regions as well as London as voted for by real customers in user-generated reviews.
Assessment for The Food List is based on food alone, what The Sunday Times believes is the most important aspect of any dining experience. Sunday Times Editor, John Witherow, says: “The approach of assessing each restaurant on the quality of the food alone is unique, and manages to take a lot of the stuffiness out of the whole process of eating out.”
