Want to get national recognition for your local project? Channel Five News are introducing 'Your News' a short section of the programme given over to viewers and their own news stories and events.

Residents are asked to shoot videos on camcorders or mobile phones and send them in either by post or email to be shown on air. Each one shown on TV they pay £100 for.

Next week, Channel Five are starting a new half-hour programme at 7pm and are looking for Your News videos about ‘Cleaning Up the Community’. We’d like to cover the following issues:

• Cleaning-up communal areas
• Chewing gum/dog mess/cigarette butts on pavements
• Graffiti & vandalism
• Car crime – vandalism/joy riding
• Yob culture – anti-social behaviour

Videos only need to be about 1 – 1.30 minutes long and can be fully edited there, so it’s all about just getting your story on camera.

Below are links to Your News videos previously received to give an idea of length and the kind of content. They would like to see on camera the person responsible for making the video (it need only be short if a little camera-shy!) and obviously a voice-over to tell the story. The quality of videos vary – they are supposed to be homemade videos so they're not too fussy, so long as the audio is ok and the picture quality not too hazy!
