Builders are Back on SW6

New luxury flats and houses on their way

After a long quiet period in the aftermath of the credit crunch, developers are returning to Fulham to build a number of new luxury flats and houses.

At the foot of North End Road, the former bank next to the Cock and Hen pub is being transformed by a company called Parsons Green Land into St Johns Fulham, which consists of five luxurious two bedroom apartments, which agent Hamptons says "have high ceilings and copious natural light."

Four of these apartments, including the penthouse have already been snapped up. The remaining one, offering two bedrooms, one open plan reception room and a roof terrace is still available through Hamptons for £625,000.

At the other end of North End Road, West London County Court, which has been on English Heritage's "At Risk" Register after being empty for five years, will be turned into nine new flats, three with two bedrooms and six with one bedroom.

The developer, the Victoria Square Property Company has been granted permission to turn each of the two courtrooms into an apartment by ripping out modern additions and restoring traditional features, including high ceilings and parquet floors.

On the corner of Chipstead Street and New Kings Road in Parsons Green, builder Nicholas King is building " four, superbly designed four bedroom homes with spacious living accommodation, internal courtyard and garden area".

The architecture of these new homes, says the builder, is reminiscent of the traditional Lions Houses in the surrounding Peterborough estate. Prices are expected to be around £2 million. Interested buyers can register now by phoning 01494 811823 or emailing sales@nkhomes.com

These small scale buildings will soon be joined by much larger developments on Fulham's riverside. The company behind Imperial Wharf, St George is now inviting people to register interest in Chelsea Creek, its inland development on Imperial Road.

Chelsea Creek will offer around 1,300 new homes built around a restored dockside area around the creek, a long neglected tributary of the Thames which is also the last remaining part of Kensington Canal. St George says it will "showcase an outstanding selection of highly specified apartments and penthouses, surrounded by tree lined boulevards and landscaped parkland in a historic dockside setting."

The company says it will also have a luxury health spa with swimming pool and fitness centre, plus shops, bars and restaurants. Potential buyers can register now by calling 020 7610 9693.

Also this year, Sainsbury's is expected to submit a planning application to redevelop the derelict Fulham Wharf, to the west of it existing store on Townmead Road, creating up to 700 new homes as well as a new superstore, cafes and restaurants build around a public space. The Thames Path will also be extended.
