Enter your friend in the Dogs Trust Honours 2010
Do you think your four legged friend deserves to be famous? The Dogs Trust is inviting dog lovers across West London to norminate their pooches for a prize in the Dogs Trust Honours 2010.
Last year, one of the biggest stars of the show was Lucy the dancing dog from Uxbridge, but she was just pipped at the post for the Rex Factor Award by Skye from Berkshire's amazing football skills.
This year, there are five categories to enter, all celebrating the irreplaceable role our dogs play in our lives. They are:
The Sun Hero Dog - the award for act(s) of barksome bravery
Golden Oldie - the award for a special dog over seven
Dogged Devotion - for dogs who provide emotional support
Dog Star - the award for talented pet dogs
Celebrity Canine - for dogs in the public eye
This last award is open to those without a furry friend of their own, who can nominate their favourite famous dog, from stars of the small screen to pop stars' pets.
Dogs Trust Chief Executive Clarissa Baldwin OBE says: " Our awards celebrate the very special things which dogs give us. Let’s rejoice in all things canine and give these heroes the recognition they deserve."
The awards, a doggy version of the Pride of Britain Awards, culminate in a star-studded ceremony in London on June 3, featuring heart warming stories of heroic hounds from across the UK.
All the winning dogs will have their paw-traits snapped by renowned photographer Dan Burn-Forti and displayed as part of a gallery exhibition on the night.
Nominations for the awards can made until midnight on April 23. To nominate your dog, go to www.dogstrusthonours.co.uk
You can also send your dog’s details, story and high resolution photo to awards@dogstrust.org.uk or make the nomination by letter to Dogs Trust Honours, 17 Wakley Street, London EC1V 7RQ. Unfortunately, the trust is unable to return photos and only the shortlisted nominees will be contacted.
