Hammersmith & City and Circle line shut during the Summer
Transport for London have announced that the Hammersmith & City and Circle lines between Hammersmith and Edgware Road are set for a three week closure.
The closure will take place between 24th July and 15th August due to Crossrail and London Underground (LU) station works at Paddington.
Nigel Holness, LU's Service Director said, "The works at Paddington will involve the demolition of a disused taxi ramp and canopy that sit above the Hammersmith & City line platforms and means that trains will not be able to operate in that area. "
No explanation has been given by TfL for the short notice given for the disruption.
Whilst the work is underway at Paddington TfL say they will be doing other upgrade work that would have required station closures. This includes platform extension works to accommodate the new, longer air-conditioned trains and upgrading of track.
Hammersmith & City line services will operate from Edgware Road to Whitechapel while Circle line services will operate on the old route.
Rail replacement services will operate between Hammersmith and Edgware Road and there will be ticket acceptance on local bus and tube services.
