The long awaited riverside walkway by Craven Cottage has finally opened.

For the first time ever it is possible for the public to walk between the stadium and the River Thames and there is now a direct route next to the river between Fulham and Hammermith.

The new section of the Thames Path, which is actually decking built over the water, was enabled by a planning condition for the building of Fulham FC Riverside Stand.

The club will still be able to restrict access to the walkway on match days but at other times it will end the need to go around the rear of the stadium when walking by the river.

The stadium project has faced several delays since construction began in 2019. These stemmed from multiple factors, including complications in demolishing the old stand, the COVID-19 pandemic, and the main contractor going into administration.

This site remains committed to providing local community news and public interest journalism.

Articles such as the one above are integral to what we do. We aim to feature as much as possible on local societies, charities based in the area, fundraising efforts by residents, community-based initiatives and even helping people find missing pets.

We’ve always done that and won’t be changing, in fact we’d like to do more.

However, the readership that these stories generates is often below that needed to cover the cost of producing them. Our financial resources are limited and the local media environment is intensely competitive so there is a constraint on what we can do.

One-off donations are also appreciated. Choose The Amount You Wish To Contribute.
