Industry accolades for local copper distillery in first 6 months of trading
Sipsmith, London’s first copper distillery for 189 years, has won two industry gold medals in its first 6 months of trading.
The small distillery on a residential street in Brackenbury Village, was launched in June 2009 and is where master distiller, Jared Brown, crafts a classic London Dry Gin and a unique Barley Vodka. Both spirits were highly commended in several industry competitions in 2009.
Sipsmith is now stocked in over 100 outlets including The Dorchester, The Langham, The Ivy, Hix, Selfridges, Harvey Nichols and closer to home The Anglesea Arms and Princess Victoria.
Sipsmith co-founders, Sam Galsworthy and Fairfax Hall are delighted with their success. “We are thrilled to have two gold medals under our belt, just six months since launching. We feel this is a real testament to the difference in taste our hand-crafted approach makes, and will continue to nurture the rest of our spirits in the same way as the Sipsmith family grows” said Sam.
2010 will see Sipsmith pursue innovations such as the Sipsmith Mince Pie flavour Gin, which was hugely successful at Christmas in 2009.
