St Vincent's House commended for high quality care
Hammersmith nuring home St. Vincent’s House has been awarded Gold Standard accreditation by the Gold Standards Framework for its high quality end of life care.
The team at St. Vincent’s House, which has beds for 92 people, wanted to deliver a high standard of care to all clients, looking at their care right up until the end of their lives.
All staff, from management through to ancillary staff, have been involved and participated in a huge amount of training in end of life care over a 15 month period.
To qualify for accreditation, care homes must have undertaken the full Gold Standards Framework Training Programme over nine months, embedded this into their homes for at least six months and then undertaken a rigorous, internationally recognised, accreditation process called Going for Gold.
The Gold Standards Framework is based within the NHS and aims to deliver a high standard of care to all people nearing the end of life.
The training programme aims to improve the organisation and the quality of care for residents in the last years of life, to improve collaboration with GPs and others and to reduce avoidable hospital admissions.
Kevin Henry, Home Manager of St. Vincent’s House says: "We have worked extremely hard over the last 15 months to achieve excellent partnerships with the local hospice, NHS and Imperial College Hospital London. The home now has more professional input and therefore offers a much higher level of care services."
Only 26 homes nationally have been commended in the last year and St. Vincent’s is the first home within national care organisation Care UK to have gained this recognition.
