Walk organised by Hammersmith and Fulham Historic Buildings Group
Hammersmith and Fulham Historic Buildings Group is holding a Fulham Moat Walk on Monday, March 30 at 6pm.
The walk will explore the route of Fulham Palace’s former moat, learn its history and hear about plans for its future.
The moat once was the longest in Europe and is our borough’s only Scheduled Monument. The visit will be led by local expert Keith Whitehouse, who carried out the first sectional excavations of the moat for the Fulham Archaeological Rescue Group in 1982.
Walkers will meet 6p.m at the main entrance to Fulham Palace, which is at the river end of Bishop’s Avenue. The outing lasts about 2 hours and costs £5, payable on the day.
Advance Booking is required – please contact Richard Scott by emailing rbc.scott@yahoo.co.uk. You can also call 0208 749 3963.
