Woman charged over Shepherd's Bush Blaze

Church roof destroyed by devastating fire

A 36-year-old woman has been charged with starting a fire at a converted church in west London last week.

Jennifer Morrow, of Shepherd's Bush Road, appeared at west London magistrates' court on July 31 charged with one count of arson with intent to endanger life and one count of arson where life was endangered.

Around 75 firefighters tackled the blaze at the Great Commission Ministry church in Shepherds Bush on Tuesday morning last week.

The fire is believed to have been started in a neighbouring hostel before it spread to the church.

The church's roof was completely destroyed and the rest of the building damaged before the fire crews could put the blaze out.

Reports claim Ms Morrow was homeless and staying at the hostel when the incident occurred.

Everyone staying at the hostel was evacuated safely and there were no reported injuries.
