A modern twist on a classic at Baron's Court Theatre
A contemporary re-telling of Shakespeare's timeless tragic love story, taking place against the background of our modern political system.
The Capulets and Montagues are rival political parties. At a fundraising event for the 'blue' Capulet party, Juliet, the party leader's daughter, catches sight of the disguised Romeo, son of the leader of the hated rival 'yellow' Montague party.
And thus their coalition begins...
Director, Andrew Cleaver's previous directing work includes That Joke Isn't Funny Anymore (' Court), Mojo (Bridewell), Abigail's Party (Etcetera), The Women Of Troy and Proof (both at City Lit). As an actor he has worked professionally in theatre, film and commercials for a number of years. As a stage actor his roles have included Malvolio in Twelfth Night (Courtyard), Tom in For Ed (King's Head), Edgar in King Lear (Theatro Technis) and Keith in Happily Ever After (Upstairs at the Gatehouse).
CP Theatre Productions is a central London based producing company staging new writing and classic texts in fringe venues across the capital.
