Ealing Police launched the Safer Neighbourhoods East Acton team at a public meeting last Wednesday, 23rd March, where over 70 people shared their concerns and priorities with the new team.

 

Residents in east Acton told the police about their problems with groups of youths causing a nuisance and their experiences of anti-social behaviour. They heard information regarding local crime trends and attendance of the team at local meetings.

 

The East Acton Safer Neighbourhoods team will now begin to work with the ward residents, local business, schools, the Council and other partners to find lasting solutions to the main issues that were raised at the meeting.

 

East Acton Safer Neighbourhoods Police Sergeant Robert Butler said, "I am very pleased to be part of this project. Improving neighbourhood safety is one of the Met's priorities and we are looking forward to tackling the quality of life issues that affect the community. We know we cannot do this on our own and our success will mirror the contribution from yourselves and local partnerships in making East Acton a better place to live and work."

 

A met police spokesman said, "The public have been telling us they want real community based policing, the sort of policing where they know their police officers and the officers know them and the local needs and issues in their area. Safer Neighbourhoods will allow us to deliver this type of policing, providing a visible and reassuring presence on Ealing Borough’s streets to ensure the public can live their lives in safety, without fear".
