Work to replace water pipes will bring road closures for 12 months
Thames Water has announced plans to dig up more roads around Hammersmith, with disruption set to hit Glenthorne Road, Hammersmith Broadway, Hammersmith Road and Talgarth Road, for at least 12 months.
Thames Water want to replace the 150-year-old metal pipes supplying water to Hammersmith residents with plastic tubing in order to minimise leaks.
Water mains repairs will shut down parts of Earsby Street and Avonmore Pace, Bishop King's Road and Gorleston Street. The closures will come into effect on 29 June 2009.
Thames Water project manager Neil Franks said: "Wherever possible, new pipes will be placed inside the old metal ones, which means less trench-digging will be required, minimising disruption to motorists and residents."
Roads in Hammersmith and Fulham will also be closed to traffic other than for access or emergency services as Hammersmith and Fulham Council cairries out works to street lighting.
The works will begin on 6 July 2009, and could be in place for 18 months.
