Classical Concert to support the Emery Walker House

A concert in support of the Emery Walker house, Hammersmith’s Arts and Crafts gem, will be held on Friday 23 September at Latymer Upper School in Hammersmith. The Lawson Trio, one of the UK’s finest young chamber music ensembles, will be playing a programme that includes Schubert, Brahms, Haydn and a specially composed piece by David Knotts.

Sir Emery Walker, printer, antiquary and a close friend and mentor of his neighbour, William Morris, lived at 7 Hammersmith Terrace from 1903 until his death in 1933.  After his death, Walker’s daughter, Dorothy, preserved the house almost exactly as it had been in her father’s lifetime. Full of original William Morris wallpapers, textiles and furniture, this riverside property has the best-preserved Arts and Crafts domestic interior in Britain. The house was a private home until 1999 and opened to the public for the first time in 2005.  The concert is part of a campaign to raise funds to secure the long-term future of Emery Walker’s house at 7 Hammersmith Terrace and its unique collections.

The Lawson trio concert at Latymer Upper School theatre, King Street, Hammersmith starts at 7.30pm.
