100 vehicles expected to participate in convoy through Hammersmith
Campaigners are gearing up for a last-ditch remonstration before the introduction of the new western extension to the Congestion Charging zone.
Around 100 vehicles are expected to take part in a go-slow car convoy from Kensington through to Hammersmith on February 17th – just two days before the extension comes into force.
The protest has been organized joined between Hammersmith and Kensington councils in partnership with the West London Residents' Association and will be the first protest to take place in the borough of Hammersmith & Fulham.
Chairman of the WLRA, Dr Gordon Taylor, told the press "Although the new extension is rolled out in Kensington, many residents and businesses in neighbouring Hammersmith will ultimately suffer as well.
"There is overall anger in West London that the extension of this crude and expensive zone charging system, which will adversely affect people's lives and livelihoods, is still being pushed by the mayor."
Residents living in the new extension are entitled to a 90 per cent discount.
