Replacement railway bridge works to start
Work to replace the railway bridge that spans Cambridge Grove in Hammersmith must be carried out as quickly and efficiently as possible urge council bosses.
The road will be closed between King Street and Glenthorne Road from October 1 to November 10 to allow Transport for London (TfL) to carry out the urgent replacement work. A closure will take place north of Glenthorne Road from October 29 to November 10, with the road due to fully reopen on Thursday, November 11.
Cllr Nick Botterill, Deputy Leader and Deputy Leader for Environment, said: “We fully understand that this work is essential. However, it is imperative that TfL take into account local people and complete the work on schedule, with the minimum of fuss.”
During the closure there will be no pedestrian access from King Street through to Glenthorne Road. Access to all properties between King Street and Glenthorne Road will be maintained, however properties north of the bridge will gain access via Glenthorne Road and properties south of the bridge will gain access via King Street.
Some parking bays will be suspended, however alternatives will be available on other roads. Some additional parking bays outside of the closure will also be suspended to accommodate materials and welfare cabins, however the disabled bays close to the junction of King Street will be maintained.
The bridge that is being replaced is currently used by District Line trains and there will be no trains running on the weekends of October 2-3 and October November 6-7.
TfL bosses will be on hand to meet affected residents on Thursday 23 September from 5.30pm to 8.30pm at the Small Hall, Hammersmith Town Hall, King Street.
