Accident Brings West London to Standstill

Person taken away by air ambulance but rumours of Mayor's involvement untrue

Much of the West London road network was at a standstill this Saturday evening following a serious incident on the A4 westbound near Talgarth Road.

One person was taken to hospital by air ambulance in a collision that appears to have involved three cars. It is believed that none of the occupants of the cars have been seriously injured and that the injured person was a pedestrian.

One of the cars was a Bentley with a number plate suggesting it belonged to the Mayor, Boris Johnson, leading to speculation that he was personally involved in the incident but the police have confirmed this is not the case.

The incident left a lamppost across the carriageway and has resulted in the closure of the road. This led to massive transport chaos in and around the A4 with jams back to Chiswick High Road and Shepherd's Bush Green.

The A4 was closed between Talgarth Road and the Hogarth Roundabout and flooding on the A4 and other local roads added to traffic problems.
