Emergency Appeal Launched to Help Equip Local Hospital
Rapid Response Fund aims to support staff at Chelsea and Westminster
CW+, the charity for Chelsea and Westminster Hospital NHS Foundation Trust has launched a Rapid Response Fund to help their staff provide the best possible care during the COVID-19 outbreak across our communities. This new fund will support their hospitals (Chelsea and Westminster Hospital and West Middlesex University Hospital) in three key areas:
New equipment
New technology
Support for frontline staff
The Trust have launched the emergency appeal for funding through the hospital charity, to deal with the current situation.
The funds can and are being used, RIGHT NOW to purchase vital equipment and facilities such as much needed ventilators and protective wear, organising volunteers, setting up new designated areas for busy health workers to take an essential break, amongst many other things.
The hospitals are experiencing an unprecedented ongoing huge rapid shift in how they function on a day to day basis, which has to be dealt with very quickly. This funding is being put to immediate use NOW where it matters. You can donate here
Chelsea and Westminster Hospital NHS Foundation Trust is playing a central role in responding to the COVID-19 outbreak across our communities. Our hospitals are now preparing for a significant increase in patients needing support on our intensive care units over the coming weeks.
Plans include accelerating the opening of ten new Intensive Care beds at Chelsea and Westminster Hospital, embedding new digital solutions to monitor and communicate with patients and carers, providing enhanced training for staff and deploying a skilled volunteer workforce to support the needs of both patients and staff
The charity says: " Taking care of NHS staff and facilities will ultimately benefit those who end up in hospital being treated for this virus and their families. Donations are also a way of showing the hospital staff how much we appreciate and support them. People rallying around, it really makes a difference to them, and they are incredibly grateful. Hospital staff will be very stretched and really need that feel good factor from the local community right now. Many of the hospital staff are far from home and loved ones themselves. We are their community. "
