Chief Superintendent Lucy D'Orsi introduces herself to residents
Hammersmith and Fulham's new female Borough Commander has sent a message to residents saying she is "delighted" with her new role and promising to continue to make the borough safer.
Chief Superintendent Lucy D'Orsi took over the role of the borough's top cop at the beginning of this month following the retirement of her predecessor Kevin Hurley after 32 years service.
On his last day in the service, Kevin went on a last walkabout from Hammersmith Police Station with his son Thomas, who also serves with the Met, and was applaudedby friends and colleagues on the station steps.
Chief Superintendent Kevin said: " It was a privilege to have worked with such dedicated people, who never cease to leave me humbled".
The new Borough Commander, who will be meeting local people face to face at the Crime Summit taking place on Saturday March 5 at Stamford Bridge, is vowing to carry on his work.
She says: "Hammersmith and Fulham is a richly diverse and varied Borough with many challenges for those who work here. It is a positive and multicultural borough with a variety of public entertainment, shopping and sporting venues which attract local, national and international visitors.
" I am delighted to have been entrusted with the role of Borough Commander. Your local police work closely with the Local Authority, local communities and a variety of agencies to make Hammersmith and Fulham a safer and better place to live, work, learn and socialise.
" Paramount to this is ensuring that we provide Hammersmith and Fulham’s residents, workers and visitors with a professional service that they can have confidence in.
" My role is to ensure that your local police deliver a first class professional service on community safety. Crime is 16% lower than it was in 2005 with 4300 less victims. This is a fantastic achievement and I will work with my staff to continue this trend.
" My vision is to ensure that your local police continue to make Hammersmith and Fulham safer by reducing crime and anti-social behaviour, and ensuring that the public have confidence in local policing and the service that we provide.
" I want Hammersmith and Fulham to be a borough of choice for people to live, work and socialise without being in fear of crime or anti-social behaviour.
" I welcome your support to achieve my vision. Please feel free to contact us with any thoughts, concerns or questions you have about the policing service in the borough."
