Hammersmith and Fulham Council has given the go ahead for another four Barclays Cycle Hire docking stations to be, in addition to the first batch of sites approved during December.

The latest approved sites are at:

Carriageway outside 237 North End Road, W14 - 28 docking points

Carriageway Opposite 51 Hugon Road, SW6 - 30 docking points

Carriageway Adjacent To 2 Comeragh Road, W14 - 20 docking points

Footpath outside 174 Hammersmith Road, W6 - 26 docking points

Footpath outside 43 Brook Green, W6 - 38 docking points

With these new additions, 430 bicycle spaces have now been approved across Hammersmith and Fulham.

Cllr Victoria Brocklebank-Fowler, cabinet member for transport and technical services, said: "We are very excited to see the scheme come to the borough, especially as many of these approved sites for docking stations were suggested initially by our residents through the council's website.

" Hammersmith & Fulham has one of the highest numbers of cyclists on London's roads, and we hope that this figure will continue to rise over the coming years with the western expansion of the Barclays Cycle Hire Scheme."

Carriageway outside Cooper House, 2 Michael Road, SW6 - 38 points

Land outside King Henry's Reach, Manbre Road, W6 - 28 points

Footpath outside Bedford House, 69 - 79 Fulham High Street, SW6 - 21 points

Footpath outside Arthur Henderson House Fulham Road London SW6 4JU 27

Footpath outside Maltings Place Imperial Road,SW6 - 57 points

Carriageway and footway opposite 5-7 Bridge Avenue, W6 - 18 points

Land opposite 237 New King's Road, SW6 - 21 points

It is expected that these docking stations will be installed by this summer, and will be part of an eventual total of around 60 stations offering 1,440 Boris Bikes.

At the moment the only docking stations in the borough are situated around Westfield in Shepherd's Bush and were financed by the shopping centre itself. The centre has now reportedly agreed to extend this to provide around 18 stations around the centre.

In 2011, Mayor Boris Johnson asked Transport for London to prepare plans for a westward expansion of the scheme in the boroughs of Wandsworth, Hammersmith & Fulham, Lambeth and Kensington & Chelsea.

Since then TfL has been working with the boroughs to identify suitable locations for docking stations and to develop the design and layout of the proposed expanded area.
