Wood Lane to be one of six sites in BBC's heritage trail
The BBC is creating a broadcasting heritage trail to celebrate landmark BBC buildings in London, with the first blue plaque to be displayed at Television Centre in Wood Lane.
BBC Director-General Tony Hall unveiled the first blue plaque at BBC Worldwide’s new headquarters at Television Centre in W12. He was joined by TV legend Sir Bruce Forsyth, and Strictly Come Dancing presenters Tess Daly and Claudia Winkleman.
Television Centre is one of six sites chosen to display a blue plaque. They each mark key moments in the UK’s broadcast history, as well as being sites of memorable and much loved BBC TV and Radio programming.
Tony Hall said: "“Television Centre is an iconic building. Countless legendary programmes were created here – and it’s great to see our BBC Worldwide team in such an inspiring new space. We want to celebrate its re-opening with everyone, so we’re launching a brand new historical plaque trail – starting here, and working its way across the capital."
The plaques will be installed at their locations around the capital in the coming months.
