Healthy eating, chocolate with a difference and gluten free cooking Classes at Leiths

Leiths School of Food and Wine has, for many years, run a number of popular one day workshops ranging from Thai cookery to Knife skills classes.   However, we have noticed a growing demand for classes that focus on healthy eating and nutrition, an area that has rapidly expanded in popularity either due to lifestyle choices or necessitated by illness.

Many people do not know where to begin or what choices are available to them. To meet this need, we have introduced three new classes with a healthy eating focus.

Held by guest demonstrators who are specialists in their fields, we aim to introduce the basics of nutrition and healthy eating in an enjoyable, informal atmosphere.

CHOCOLATE WITH A DIFFERENCE

Desserts and cakes 13 Oct 2009
Bars and Truffles 8 Dec 2009
1-day workshops
11.30-3/3.30pm Fees: £100

Join Liz Bygrave on these chocolate workshops that are designed to show you how to make a range of delicious chocolate recipes, all completely free from any sugar, dairy or wheat.  Liz will be using ‘raw chocolate’ (also known as ‘raw cacao’) and natural sweeteners, and alternatives to dairy such as coconut oil and nuts. All the ingredients are as natural and unprocessed as possible. In addition, there is no actual cooking in this workshop – all the recipes are put together with a touch of elbow grease and the use of blenders and nut grinders.   This workshop will delight the taste buds of chocoholics, people on special diets for health or ethical reasons, parents who want to feed their children sweet food without the junk, and those who are interested to learn about novel ways of working with food.  This course is suitable for beginners and experienced cooks alike. A light lunch is included in the cost of the course.
