Silver Gilt for our Blooming Beautiful Borough

Hammersmith and Fulham honoured in London in Bloom awards

Hammersmith and Fulham's parks and green spaces have won the borough a Silver Gilt honour at the recent London in Bloom awards - an improvement on last year's Silver.

London in Bloom is an environmental campaign that invites neighbourhoods from across the capital to breath new life into their local green spaces.

Judges visited H&F in the summer and were particularly impressed with Phoenix Gardens, Wormwood Scrubs, and three borough parks which all recently won coveted Green Flag Awards – Margravine Cemetery, Ravenscourt Park and Frank Banfield Park.

They also commented on the absence of graffiti and flyposting in the borough and the numerous community activities available at the recently modernised Normand Park in Fulham

The judges were even more impressed with the new landscaped parks at the St George's development at Imperial Wharf and voted it in third place across London in the business category of the awards. The parks will officially open later this month and will be accessible to all.

Cllr Paul Bristow, cabinet member for residents’ services, said:  " I am delighted that the judges were so impressed when they came to visit that they rated us even higher than last year.   Who knows, next year,  we hope to go one step better and win a gold award."
