James Corden Picks Putney Novel As Summer Read

Late Late Show host chooses Sofka Zinovieff's just published book

After being featured on PutneySW15.com the new novel ‘Putney’ by Sofka Zinovieff has received an additional boost by being recommended by Late Late Show host James Corden to his 10 million followers on Twitter.

It was one of four books that the TV host tweeted a picture of showing his intended summer reading.

The book which is published this Thursday (12 July) and is now available for purchase online has also received rave reviews from writers such as Louis de Bernières and Piers Paul Read.

The book deals with the repercussions of an illicit relationship between a young girl and a man twenty years her senior. They first meet in the sprawling riverside Putney home of her bohemian father in the early 1970s. Ralph Boyd is a composer who first meets Daphne when she is nine years old at which point he develops an obsession about her. They meet again several years later in Greece after Ralph has become a husband and father when their affair begins.

Forty year on Daphne has returned to London after a life blighted by drug abuse when circumstances bring her back into contact with her friend Jane, the only other person who knew of her relationship with Ralph who is now a world famous composer. The chance encounter and anxiety over the future of her own adolescent daughter prompts her to confront Ralph about their shared past.

Sofka grew up in Putney with her father the electronic music pioneer Peter Zinovieff.
