Revised plans have been submitted by Blackrock UK for a rooftop venue on the Putney Exchange Shopping Centre this week. The details can be found at Planning Application - enter 2019/0124 in the search box.
In 2018 the earlier proposals for a Pergola on the roof were withdrawn with a spokesperson for the company saying this was "to reconsider the proposals in light of some of the constructive comments received during the consultation period".
In a release the company has stated that: "It is of paramount importance, given the substantial investment proposed, to the applicants to deliver a truly unique and special dining concept which would not only stand the test of time, but also complement successfully the existing diverse F&B offering in Putney Town Centre".
"As part of this re-application process the applicants engaged with local residents, local councillors and local community bodies. Letters were sent to surrounding neighbours of Putney Exchange and public consultation sessions were held in the shopping centre during November 2018. It is clear from the feedback received that the over-riding concerns relate to the potential adverse impact of the site given the proximity to residential properties, the loss of car parking (to accommodate the development) and matters relating to the management of the venue. The applicants are acutely aware of the need to work collaboratively with neighbours and other ‘interested parties’ in delivering this new venue and that all such concerns have, we feel, been addressed thoroughly in the revised proposals".
The release continues: "The new, and we believe, improved planning application, which features a radical and improved departure from the original design for The Palmhouse, will be submitted for consideration during the week commencing 7th January 2019. We look forward to being able to deliver a wonderful roof -top dining experience for everyone to enjoy. Crucially, The Palmhouse will provide an essential point of difference for Putney and breathe desperately needed life and vitality back into the town centre".
The company told this website that they, "sincerely hope that the revised application is well received and supported and encourage people to visit the council website to review the proposals".
