Once a children's playcentre, the Council has given permission for extension of hours of operation to a company proposing to run an indoor adventure golf course in the former Eddie Catz site on Putney High Street.
Jungle Rumble proposes to operate an indoor facility, similar to their two existing town centre operations in Bristol and
Leeds, which provide 'jungle-themed' 18-hole courses. They also operate an outdoor facility in Brighton.
The application states that the business is reliant on a steady throughput of customers playing rounds of
adventure golf and the courses are designed to appeal to all ages. The operation will include a
complementary bar/café and arcade machines 'as is typical of (Class D2) assembly and leisure uses
such as skating rinks and bowling alley'.
The application states that the windows of the venue will be closed (to contain noise and allow effective mechanical
ventilation) the assessment tests noise breakout with windows open to account for a worst-case
scenario. The acoustic assessment report supplied to the Council confirms that extending the hours operation to 11pm “will
be highly unlikely to give rise to any significant adverse noise impacts and accordingly the extension
of opening hours as sought is acceptable in terms of noise.”
The business hopes to see a steady change of customer type over the course of the day with, parents with young children
typically visiting in the daytime, school age children and parents after school (during the school
term), and groups of adults (of varying ages) visiting in the evenings and permission has been given for the business to operate from 9am to 11pm.
