Two Arrested After Child Death in Putney

15-month-old died in hospital after cardiac arrest

A man and a woman have been arrested on suspicion of murder after the death of a child in Putney.

The pair, both aged 29, were detained after emergency services were called to a residential address at 6:06am on Tuesday, 27 August.

Paramedics informed police they were responding to reports of a child in cardiac arrest.

The child, who was aged 15 months, was taken to a west London hospital and pronounced dead at 7.22am. The family of the child have been informed.

A post-mortem examination took place on Friday, 29 August at Great Ormond Street Hospital.

Further tests are due to take place, however the death is being treated as suspicious.

Detectives from the Specialist Crime Command are investigating. The man and woman have both been bailed, the man to a date in early September and the woman to date in late September.
