Dr Hitesh Batavia said “We are very pleased and extremely grateful that our efforts to support children and families dental health have been recognised. The practice has been established for over 20 years, and we regularly have children and families coming in. Our aim is prevention.”
Shumaila, a nurse at the practice for over six years says: ”We have a programme of regular visits to schools, and small groups of children also come here, so that we can help them become familiar with the dentist and the equipment used to examine their teeth. Our role as nurses also involves showing them good brushing techniques in a very engaging manner, so that they feel empowered to take care of their own teeth.”
Dr Batavia continues: “We receive fantastic feedback as children react so positively to this approach. The number of questions we get from them is just amazing. We will continue to visit schools & nurseries with our oral health presentations, focusing on prevention first and foremost. We find that being a dental practice which just helps patients who come in once they have a problem is not good enough in this day and age. If you would like us to visit your organisation please contact us.”
