Borough has seen 24 per cent growth in 2007
Hammersmith, Chiswick and White City have all been listed one of the top ten property hotspots in London by the Telegraph newspaper.
The paper said that these West London areas had seen 24 per cent growth in 2007, in part due to its proximity to 'prime central areas'.
The new White City shopping centre, due for completion in 2008, is due to give house prices in the area a boost, similar to the effect of the West Chiswick business park. Shepherds Bush is seen by estate agents as a good place to snap up houses at about £660 per square foot, as opposed to £1,000 per square foot just over the border in leafy Kensington and Chelsea .
Houses overlooking the Thames in Hammersmith are among the most sought after in the area, with houses running west of Hammersmith Bridge commanding around £750-£800 per square foot.
However, the downsides to living Hammersmith and Fulham are also listed, with the 'hotspot' guide complaining that parts of the borough are blighted by traffic and ugly buildings.
And in a separate study of the capital's most grotty views in the same newspaper, the Hammersmith flyover was given the accolade of one of the ten worst London landmarks.
The other 'hotspots' where it was recommended to buy to invest were the Docklands, Kensington and Chelsea, Borough and Southwark, Kings Cross, Elephant and Castle, Greenwich Peninsula, Stratford and the Lea Valley.
