More independent pubs close in H&F
The recession and changes in beer tax have taken their toll on pubs in Greater London, with more than 300 closing their doors in the last three years . Recognising how locals in London are among one of the hardest hit in Britain, Glidden Trade, one of the UK’s leading paint brands, is lending a helping hand by offering independent pubs in the region the chance to win a £2,000 makeover.
Hammersmith & Fulham has seen 18 pub closures compared to Putney-3; Brentwood and Isleworth 5; Feltham and Heston 2; Ealing, Acton and Shepherd’s Bush 3 and Wimbledon actually with one extra independent opened in the last three years has fared better according figures from the All Party Parliamentary Beer Group Report 2009, prepared by CGA Strategy.
To help pull in new punters and refresh their businesses, the Glidden Trade ‘Paint and a Pint’ competition will award two pubs across the country a top transformation. As part of the prize, the lucky landlords will receive expert colour and paint advice from Glidden Trade, plus money towards a re-opening party. Additionally, Glidden Trade will arrange for all the redecoration work to be completed by a professional decorator from the area, again supporting local businesses.
Alongside the top prize, three second place prizes worth £500 and five third place winners will receive £100 in Glidden Trade vouchers to put towards their own makeover.
