St James Street Festival is on Sunday September 11

All invited to enjoy family fun and support Maggie's Cancer Care Centres

The St James Street Festival is taking place from midday till 6pm on Sunday September 11 in St James Street, off Crisp Road close to Hammersmith's riverside.

The festival, now in its second year is a local fundraising event in aid of  Maggie’s Cancer Care Centres. The charity's national head office is in St James Street and of course the local much-loved Maggie’s Centres is nearby on Fulham Palace Road next to Charing Cross Hospital.

The festival is promising lots of stalls: cakes, bric-a-brac, jewellery, nearly new clothes and household goods; a BBQ, raffle, tombola, refreshments, live music, fortune-telling, magic, and many more fun activities for children and adults.

It is being organised by a dedicated and highly motivated group of neighbours and volunteers from the local community, with support from friendly small and micro businesses in the neighbourhood and beyond.

Everyone is giving their time, talent, and energy to collect donated goods or funds, to raise awareness of the charity and to raise as much money as possible.

The St James Street festival was started last year, in memory of Jane Eggleston, who died very suddenly from lung cancer in her early sixties.

The organisers say that Jane had lived in St James Street for 30 years and was a great character and add: " We wanted to do something to honour her memory, and managed to raise £3,500 for Maggie’s Cancer Care Centres. This year we have many more neighbours involved, in the street and locally, and we hope to raise much more."

If you would like any further information about the festival contact the committee at stjamesstreetfestival@gmail.com.
