Residents concerned with overcrowding, litter and even people sleeping in their gardens.
Ravenscourt Park residents called a public meeting last week to address the problem of overcrowding outside the King's Convenience Shop. Just next to the Polish Centre, this window shop with ads for jobs and accommodation is well known resource to the Polish community in London.
With large crowds of people often gathering outside the shop, which doubles up as a work agency for the Polish community, residents are becoming fed up with being unable to pass down the street, the increased litter levels from such large crowds and even finding people sleeping in their front gardens.
Cllr Greg Hands, accompanied by Ravenscourt Park Councillor, Caroline Donald, attended the meeting. Commenting, Cllr Caroline Donald said:
“Following the public meeting the Council are under pressure to do something to relieve the situation for local residents, and are now taking legal advice on how to solve the problem.
“We need to find a workable solution that supports residents, but does not damage Mr Patel’s business.”
In addition, Greg Hands has added:
“It is always awkward when situations like this arise, however I am confident that the problem is not insurmountable and an amicable solution can be found.
“Clearly it is unacceptable for large crowds to disrupt a local community in this way. Hammersmith has always welcomed a large Polish community, but all of our residents deserve a solution to this problem.”
