Metro Bank Begins Recruiting Staff for New Kings Mall Store

Local people can apply now for role of Customer Service Representative

Metro Bank

When it announced the opening last month, the bank said it aimed to create around 25 local jobs at the new store, which will occupy the site formerly occupied by the Patisserie Valerie, plus three other adjoining units.

Metro Bank is now fulfilling that aim as it recruits Customer Service Representatives.

The bank says it is looking for people "who display outstanding qualities of providing genuinely professional and amazing customer service.

"Our store colleagues focus on the customer all the time, every time because they care about our customers, and we get rid any stupid bank rules that get in the way of them doing that. That is why we offer instant account opening with a debit card, PIN and cheque book issued on the spot. How amazing is that?"

Metro Bank says the role involves:

• Greeting and welcoming customers
• Finding solutions for customers and advising them on our services
• Opening accounts for our customers and providing loan and credit card facilities
• Helping customers with our amazing Magic Money Machines and Safe Deposit boxes
• Participating in our store events (including Kids Rock, Dogs Rule, Grand Openings, Metro Money Zone)

You need to be this kind of person:

• Passionate about providing unparalleled levels of service and convenience for customers
• Prepared to stick at something – we get nervous if someone has jumped from job to job
• Able to work and learn quickly in a fast paced, fun and dynamic environment

Tha bank adds: "We always support colleagues to develop their skills. But to be successful in this job you really do need to already be able to do most of these wonderful things."

• Right from the start, we'll give you full training and great support so you don't need previous experience of finance or banking, but you do need experience of dealing with complex customer service queries.
• We are looking for colleagues who want to revolutionise banking by turning customers into fans!
• You'll also need to be able to balance building relationships with your customers with attention to detail - we are a bank after all!
• Able to deliver excellent customer experience in a very fast paced environment (our Stores are often very busy!)
• Be 100% flexible to work a variety of shift patterns over the seven days Metro Bank are open

The bank also adds this footnote: " Diverse teams really are the best teams. We know that candidates (especially women, research tells us) may be put off applying for a job unless they can tick every box.

"We also know that 'normal' office hours aren’t always doable, and while we can’t accommodate every flexible working request we are happy to be asked. So if you are excited about working with us and think you can do much of what we are looking for but aren’t sure if you are 100% there yet… why not give it a whirl? Good luck!"

You can apply for this role until Thursday 19 September. To find out more and apply click here.

Metro Bank says it has spent some years trying to finds a location in Hammersmith town centre.

Local director Adam Durrant said: “We’re really excited about opening in Hammersmith. There is a real buzz about the town centre, which we think we’re going to complement.

“We’ve been looking to open in the town centre for a number of years, so we’re delighted we’ve finally found an appropriate location.”

Following the launch of the new branch of Metro Bank - the borough's second alongside the existing store in Fulham Broadway - Kings Mall will gain a second supermarket with the arrival of a large new Lidl store in July 2020.

The store, which will be around the corner from the long established branch of Sainsbury's, will open in July 2020 and will be twice the size of a normal Lidl store.

Kings Mall is also benefiting from increased investment by Danish gift store Flying Tiger, and American sportswear chain Footlocker, which has increased its lease by five years and is currently installing a double-height shopfront.

The new arrivals are a major boost for owners Schroders who bought Kings Mall in 2015 for £153million, and set about revamping and upgrading the centre.

Centre manager Andrew Proctor, said of the new arrivals: "They are huge high street names, so we are delighted to welcome them to Kings Mall, and it will be exciting to see the improvements in the Flying Tiger and Footlocker stores."
