Concert supports Teenage Cancer Trust

To celebrate the 500th anniversary of Italian composer Andrea Gabrieli's birth, St Peter's Singer have prepared a programme called Venice Polychoral.

In the 16th century, trade made Venice the richest cityon earth. Artistic success followed as the greatest composers of the day, including Andrea and Giovanni Gabrieli, Claudio Monteverdi, and Antonio Vivaldi, wrote their finest music for the city that they called La Serenissima. Praetorius took the Venetian polychoral tradition back to Dresden, where it influenced Schütz, Mendelssohn, and others.

St Peter's Singers say that Holy Innocents Church has the best acoustics in the area for music of this sort.

The concert, which will be directed by Duncan Aspden, will begin at 7.30pm.
