Latymerians Celebrate Amazing Set of A Level Results

One third of grades at King Street school at A* and two thirds at A*or A

Students at Hammersmith's Latymer Upper School have once again achieved an outstanding set of A Level results, with a third of grades at A* and over two thirds of grades at A*/A.

That has led to 18 students securing places at top North American universities, including MIT, Princeton, Stanford and Yale and McGill in Canada, 22 students winning places at Oxford and Cambridge and ten
going on to study Medicine

In addition, 80% of bursary pupils at the indepedent school in King Street scored at least 3 A grades

Latymer Upper School Head, David Goodhew, said: "I’m excited for our Class of 2018 who are looking forward to the next stage in their educational journey and will soon be heading off to become undergraduates – the majority at their first choice university.

"I’m proud of all our pupils, who work hard both in the classroom and in their many co-curricular activities, making them the well-rounded and lively individuals Latymerians are known for being.

"I’m particularly proud of our means-tested bursary pupils who are on the way to fulfilling their ambitions of joining the professions of medicine, engineering and academia."

Behind the statistics there are many individual success stories. Latymer’s School Captains, Aliya Ismagilova and Nick Kolobov, pictured at the top of the page, achieved a total of 8 A-levels, 4 at A*, 3 at A and 1 at B and will be taking places at Princeton in the US and St Andrews respectively

Among means-tested bursary students, Amir Rafati Fard scored 4 A*s and will read Medicine at Cambridge; Aos Al Hasani scored two A*s and 2 A grades and has a place to read Medicine at Imperial and Arie Tofeq will study Medicine at Imperial and also pursue music at the Royal College of Music.

Junda Niu scored 3 A*s and an A and will read Mechanical Engineering at Bristol; Eliza Hachem scored 2 A*s and 2 As and will read Economics at Warwick and Lalia Pourdad scored two A*s and an A and will read Law at Oxford.

Top sports pupils securing excellent grades included rowers Carter Nelson who will go to Dartmouth USA, Olivia von Stauffenberg, who last week competed for GB in the Junior World Championships, to Duke USA, Nick Mayhew (Class of 2017) to Stanford and Sophie Oestergaard, pictured right, who achieved 4A* grades and is off to Yale.

Athletics star Nicole Toft achieved three A8 grade and an A and is going to MIT USA, swimmer Spencer Williams one A* and two As and is heading for Oxford, hockey player Kitty Allen is off 3A*A to read Medicine at Leeds with three A* and and an A under her belt and netball stars
Tara Kelly achieved three A* and is going Oxford, while Tabitha Burraway achieved two A* and an A as did Ruby Frazer-Dalby.

Top musicians and actors also took top grades. Peter Wallich scored four A*s and will study PPE at Oxford, actor Maddie Guest London scored four A*s and Honor Granville, musician and actor achieved three A*s and an A and will be going to Georgetown, USA.

Among artists at Latymer Upper, six talented pupils secured places on prestigious Art Foundation courses.

David Goodhew added: " " My colleagues also deserve praise for their work in supporting and inspiring our pupils throughout their time at Latymer. We wish them well in their further studies."
