Fashion Show created by young designers in the borough
The Fantasia Show Case is the finale to a 6 month fashion project by young volunteers in Hammersmith & Fulham. On the night designers will be show casing their designs on the catwalk, and also auctioning off designer T-shirts in aid of Breast Cancer Awareness.
Ian Wingfield, Youth Volunteering Manager, explained, “We set up this project for young people learn new skills and express themselves through fashion. Over the last 6 months the students have gained work experience at major fashion labels and learnt how to get into the industry as a future career.”
The syllabus includes design-training, pattern cutting, creating a portfolio and media studies. Shelley Crawford, Fashion as a Business Tutor, added, “It is very important that young people attended fashion events and work experience, which gave them a real insight into the commitment and dedication required to make a career in the fashion industry.”
The group has attended events including Clothes Show Live in Birmingham, as well as completing work experience with the following fashion companies – ASOS.COM Internet fashion magazine, Criminal Clothing, Get Lippy.Com and Selfridges.
This event will be held at Hammersmith & West London College, Barons Court, on 13th April at 6pm. Tickets are now available in advance priced £3 Adults and £1 for under 16’s. A Thai buffet & refreshments are included in the admission price.
