Summer Festival Begins in Lyric  Square

Hit the urban beach to enjoy sports, films and living statues!

Lyric Square has once again become an urban beach, offering local people a chance to relax on deckchairs and enjoy a busy programme of entertainment on the ground and on a giant screen.  

From Tuesday June 14 till Friday June 17 from noon till 2pm, the schedules includes Royal Ascot shown live on the big screen, and as part of a series of performances by the Lyric Theatrem Morris Dancing from Spymonkey, a husband and wife team whose dancing extravaganza comes complete with songs, sticks and dancing cow.

Wednesday June 15 will be a film night, with the title still to be announced.

From Monday June 20 through till July 3, Wimbledon will be shown live on the big screen, and the Lyric Theatre will present The Knowledge Emporium by Slung Low, which will invite people to The Emporium to share their knowledge, a fascinating fact, a family recipe – absolutely anything – in return for sweets.

On the final day, Slung Low will perform readings from The Book of Everything We Know, based on the knowledge generously shared by the sweet-lovers of Hammersmith.

From June 28 to 30 the Lyric will present Winter’s Ball by Les Enfants Terribles.

The award-winning Les Enfants Terribles take over our Square, bringing Grimm tales and poisoned apples to the fair people of Hammersmith. Enter a world filled with snow-capped branches, Turkish delight and weird and wonderful characters, all presided over by their terrifying Snow Queen.

From Tuesday July 12 till Thursday July 14 there will be live music performances and from Tuesday July 19 till Thursday July 21 there will be the second annual Festival of Living Statues.
