Over half of GCSE grades at Brook Green School at A* or A
Sacred Heart High School in Brook Green has achieved another impressive set of GCSE results, with 84% of pupils achieving the benchmark five A* to C grades including English and Maths.
More than half of all grades were at A* or A and overall there was not a single fail, with 100% of grades at A* to G.
Headteacher Marion Doyle said she was delighted by the performance of GCSE students.
"I’m just over the moon with the students’ success. We are bucking the national trend.
"I put it down to the commitment and dedication of our teachers, the support of our parents and the hard work and positive attitude of our girls."
A host of students achieved highly impressive results, with Saiorse Genoni and Vanessa Velez Perez collecting 11 A* grades.
Saiorse, 16, who has her eyes on a career in journalism, said she had topped her own expectations in Design and Technology and the sciences.
"I did not believe it at first," she said. "Before today I was trying to make it seem as if I had done badly to my parents – but there is nothing we can do about our results until we get them so I was trying to keep that in mind."
A further group of girls – including Eliza Hachem, Katrina Oliver, Kim Mantio, Frances Eslabra, Bethany Haran and Georgia Tooth – also picked up 10 A*s.
Eliza, 16, is switching to Latymer Upper School to study for her A levels in Maths, Further Maths, Physics and Economics.
She said: "I want to work in finance, maybe in stockbroking. But first I’m going to celebrate at Reading festival. Even though I’m leaving Sacred Heart they have really helped me with my studies."
