Free Bike Training for Local Residents

Twenty places available - first come first serve

The first 20 people to take advantage of the council's subsidised cycle training will get a two hour session completely free, due to a Transport for London funded initiative.

And for those who don't make the winning team, there will be subsidised lessons available at £5 for a two hour session to anyone who lives, works or studies in the London Borough of Hammersmith & Fulham. Cyclists of all levels can take advantage of this opportunity to receive training from cycling experts. Cycle Training UK offer tailor made lessons for beginners who've never ridden a bike before, through to regular urban cyclists who need to boost their confidence in coping with traffic.

The advantages of cycling are well documented, both from a health and an environmental perspective. Regular cycling can help to lower blood pressure, reduce the chance of heart disease and help people to lose weight. Choosing to cycle is good for the environment because cycling doesn't create any of the air and noise pollution associated with other forms of transport. People who've had cycle training are also less likely to ride on pavements, giving pedestrians a safer walking environment.

Councillor Michael Cartwright, Deputy for Environment, said, "Cycling is a fun and healthy way to get around, but it can also be hazardous if people do not know the basic rules of the road. The council promotes cycling wherever possible as an environmentally friendly way to get around the borough and I would urge all residents and visitors to take advantage of this great offer."

Two hour lessons would normally cost £70. To book a session please call Cycle Training UK on 020 7582 3535. Bicycles can be provided for complete beginners and both male and female instructors are available.
