Over 2,000 deliveries made since Parcels Not Pollution set up
Parcels Not Pollution Hammersmith
Parcels not Pollution (PNP), the zero-emissions delivery service in Hammersmith has now made 2,000 deliveries since it was set up nine months ago.
The free service set up by Hammersmith BID in partnership with Transport for London and the council has been used to deliver food parcels to vulnerable or shielding residents.
The increased demand due to the coronavirus outbreak has meant that 1,000 deliveries have been made in the last three months alone as PNP switched to offering community support.
Launched on 16th September 2019, it was originally aimed to ease congestion and improve air quality in Hammersmith. In the face of COVID-19, and lockdown, the operation has provided useful support for businesses looking to operate in different ways, as well as within the local community.
“In line with our campaign for Unlocking Hammersmith, the BID has spread its net further than just supporting our levy-payers”, commented BID Director Patricia Bench. “With the flexibility of the PNP delivery service, and the support of our partners King’s
Mall and Sainsbury’s, we have been able to make sure that our most vulnerable residents and their families are being well looked after. As soon as it is the right time for them to get back outdoors, we will be ready to welcome them back to the town
centre.”
As well as delivering free food parcels, PNP also supports the H&F Air Quality team in collecting diffusion tubes in 57 locations across the Borough to monitor pollution levels. It also offers free home deliveries of recycling bags to Hammersmith and Fulham residents, via the council’s waste team.
The service is operated by e-cargobikes.com and delivers between the hours of 8am and 6pm, Monday to Friday.
