With her studio shoots cancelled India Harl recruits mum and dad to sustain career

Hammersmith Model Adapts to Lockdown

Hammersmith based model India Harl was faced with a challenge that is now familiar to many self-employed Londoners. With the lockdown requiring the cancellation of all the photo shoots she had booked her income completely dried up.

The full time model and blogger who lives in King Street is represented by London and international agencies and has also done TV and Film work including Fast & Furious, The Aeronauts, BBC Call the Midwife and Men In Black.

In an effort to keep her modelling activities going she enrolled her dad as a photographer and her mum as a lighting assistant. Taking photos around the Hammersmith area and at her home she has gained work from New Look, Fila, Quiz clothing, Vilasa and more.

India says, “Swapping a London studio for the local park isn’t easy but I’m trying my best and want to encourage others to do the same.

“It’s such a difficult time but I always look on the brighter side that there is a way to make everything work - it’s definitely helped with my wellbeing as well, to stay active and focused and has given me a more positive mindset.

“It’s a real struggle for anyone who is self-employed in this current time- but I want to encourage others that there is always a way to make it work.”
