Lottery Tour Stops off at Hammersmith Community Gardens Association

Visit to see Ravenscourt Park children planting seeds

Hammersmith Community Gardens Association has been visited by the National Lottery’s Britain Has Balls Tour, which is travelling around London celebrating the things British people are doing with Lottery funding.

The visit was to see how funding is benefiting local children from Ravenscourt Park pre-school, who were busy planting seeds with the help of local volunteers.

Hammersmith Community Gardens Association, which has received over £48,000 to date, is a local environmental charity set up to improve access to nature for local residents, children and community groups.  

Fundraising & Strategic Manager, Cathy Mound says: “We want to thank Lottery players for this funding as it’s made a huge difference to the ‘Get Growing’ project which enables children in the borough to learn how to grow and cook their own vegetables at preschools and nurseries”.

We want Lottery players in Hammersmith & Fulham to know where their money goes and the difference it is making to local people in their community."  

The National Lottery’s Britain Has Balls Tour is visiting some of the projects in Greater London that have benefited from the 35,000 Lottery grants given out in the area over the past 15 years and will be travelling across the UK over the next six weeks.

The Lottery says that in the last year alone, Hammersmith & Fulham has received more than £5 million of Lottery funding to make a real difference to local people, places and communities.

 

 

The £25 million raised every week by Lottery players goes to projects across the arts, sport, heritage, charities, health, education and the environment.

The Hammersmith Community Gardens Association runs weekly volunteer sessions in the Ravenscourt Park glasshouses every Wednesday morning from 10am till noon.

On March 25, it will host the grand opening of the Godolphin Garden Eco Shed and the launch of a new project called Get Out There. We'll bring you more details of this event closer to the day.
